July 9, 2025, New Rochelle, NY- the Energy Justice Law & Policy Center (EJLPC) is excited to welcome Nia Howard Fenton as our new Community Programs and Advocacy Coordinator. This key role focused on building community power through climate justice education, youth leadership, and grassroots organizing.

Nia first joined EJLPC as a Leadership Fellow earlier this February, where she worked closely with Executive Director Raya Salter. Nia brings with her a strong background in sustainable community development, environmental education, and equity-centered programming. She earned her B.S. in Environmental Science from Brooklyn College and has worked with organizations such as the New York Botanical Garden and the Intersectional Environmentalist. There, she contributed to climate education, public engagement, and grassroots event planning.

At EJLPC, Nia will coordinate key initiatives such as the Eco Ambassadors and Air of Truth programs. Her work will focus on planning and executing community-facing events, strengthening partnerships, and leading outreach campaigns. She will also support policy education efforts around environmental and energy justice in Westchester County and beyond.

I'm honored to join EJLPC at such a critical time. My beliefs center community science, Black environmental history, and environmental justice education,” said Nia. “I’m excited to help create programs that not only inform, but honor lived experience, spark conversation, and shift power to those most impacted.”

Welcome Nia!
